Lahaina Fire Investigations
State Investigation

Underwriter Laboratory was hired to conduct the state investigation, they joined the World Economic Forum in 2020 and was responsible for key contributions to the infamous NIST Report on 9/11 filled flaws and fanciful conclusions. Will they do the same for the Lahaina fire?

August 31, 2023 – Hawaiʻi Attorney General Anne E. Lopez announced that she has selected Underwriter Laboratory's Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI), to assess the policies and performance of state and county agencies in preparing for and responding to the Maui wildfires that resulted in significant loss of life and caused about $5.5 billion in damage. FSRI is a research institute dedicated to addressing the world’s unresolved fire safety risks and emerging dangers.

Attorney General Lopez said FSRI will complete a thorough investigation of government agency actions up to and during the first 24 to 72 hours of the fire and its aftermath. According to Attorney General Lopez, the investigation findings will be addressed in three phases, with the final report anticipated in approximately 12 months—in late 2024. Attorney General Lopez will share information with the community and people of Hawaiʻi at the end of each phase and at the completion of the investigation. She also will share the recommendations directed to state and county agencies to prevent and better prepare communities for future disasters.

What  is Underwriter Laboratory?

The Chicago Insurance Underwriters Association and the Western Insurance Union provided funding to establish the Underwriters Electrical Bureau — later to be known as Underwriters Laboratories, or UL.

UL joins the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a Platform Partner on November 30, 2020, to help develop systemic solutions to critical global challenges and serve as a driving force behind WEF's programs. UL commits to harnessing its safety, scientific, and sustainability expertise to address carbon reduction in manufacturing, digital traceability, and enhancing resilience in supply systems and manufacturing."

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and September 11th 2001 Investigation

"Kevin R. Ryan began to investigate the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 through his work as Site Manager for a division of Underwriters Laboratories (UL). He became a whistle blower in 2004 for exposing the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), about the World Trade Center investigation and the many flaws and omissions it contained. https://www.corbettreport.com/mp3/2010-08-24%20Kevin%20Ryan.mp3

Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

ATF is investigating the cause and origin of the Lahaina fire.

While the agency’s National Response Team will be working with Maui County Fire Department officials, they will also be conducting their own investigation into causes, but not potential criminality.

The five ATF officials include an electrical engineer from the ATF Fire Research Laboratory, two Certified Fire Investigators, a CFI candidate, and an Arson and Explosives Group Supervisor.

The team’s findings will end up in an “Origin and Cause Report,” delivered to local officials.

Once those local officials deem the entire investigation complete, the ATF’s report could be released under the Freedom of Information Act, though officials could make some of it public beforehand.

Maui Community Investigation

Our community organization has been applying the scientific method to cause determination by using NFPA 921Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations. We are still collecting data and are also conducting the  analyze data phase. Look at the data yourself and be part of the unfolding public investigation and hearing.
